Pure Joy - Setting Up a New Office Space

I'm feeling giddy freedom this morning! 
Last night I spoke at a ladies' night out which was a huge honour.  It went well but it's not something I can do without being anxious.  I am so relieved to be done!  

As a special treat, I saved myself a project!!!
Dino recently told me he wants an office space in our house.  

Seriously, my heart skipped a beat when he asked me and I've been thinking on it ever since but forced myself to wait until my speech was done.

Today is the day!  
Yippee!
I so much prefer doing rather than talking about doing!  
(Although I do enjoy writing about doing.)

Step one was to figure out a practical location.  When you start a new project, take the time to think through all your options before you start scooting furniture around.  Ask yourself what your needs for the new set up will be.  When will it be in use?  How much space is needed realistically?
I decided to set something up in our bedroom.  I could certainly give him the den on the main floor but he often works in the evening so I'd like us to be on the same floor at night and I'm always in our room.

He's waiting for a new spot.

Door Stops

If you live in an old home like I do, you might have need of a door stop.  It's just one of those crazy old house phenomenons...today a door stays shut, tomorrow it swings open.

We used to have those brown plastic wedges all over the place until I realized one day, 
those are really ugly!  
So now we have door stops that are practical, and pretty.



They're also easier to kick out of the way because they're not stuck underneath the door.



And if a door suddenly starts co-operating for a time, as old doors are prone to do, the pretty door stop can become decor until it is needed back on door duty.

Shamrocks

As you know, I'm not the best with plants...I tend to kill them pretty quickly.  
But I do so love a shamrock plant and if you want an easy little bit of life in your space, I highly recommend one.

They come is different shades...from purplish to green.

Here's one of mine awake.



And then, at night, cute as a button they put their little selves to sleep.


Which I find quite sweet.  
And...in extreme helpfulness, they droop when they need water (as you can see this guy is doing).  So great when you are a plant killer to have a little reminder about the watering.

Road Trip: Alabama

I guess I disappeared last week.  I didn't mean to.

Number of brave ocean swimmers: 3



Number of dead fish found on the beach: 1





Number of jelly fish washed up:  um, a lot



Number of alligators sighted:  about 7




Number of times the Grand Hotel shoots off a canon each day: 1 
(oh yes they do)



Number of fun kids I will miss when they go back to school this week: 4

High contrast dressers are an easy trend to do yourself.  
Just paint the drawers of a dark dresser white.  Or cover the fronts with wallpaper.

Easter Blessing

I hope you had a blessed Easter.
It's hard to put into words the joy and gratitude that Easter brings so I will share this verse instead.
The salvation of the Lord has come!

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.

    great is your faithfulness.
